Ref of the Month – Roan Stafford

Roan Stafford began his soccer career at Lakehill at the age of 4. When he was 12, Roan took the Small Sided reffing course and he was hooked. Being a Small Sided referee helped to build his confidence and knowledge of the game. Last September, Roan attended the Entry Level Clinic and  and became a full field referee. Roan really enjoys all aspects of officiating and wanted to learn more about it, so he decided to join VISRA. He also attends the monthly Candidates Program education sessions run by Tiberio de Frias.

One of the best things about being a ref for Roan is getting to meet many great people like Lakehill’s Head Referee Al Moir. With Al’s guidance and support, Roan hopes to eventually become a Provincial referee.

Roan is currently a grade 9 student at Reynolds Secondary and is in the Centre for Soccer Excellence Academy. This season he played on the U15 Lakehill/Gorge Gold team. In addition to playing soccer, Roan studies the Korean martial art of Kuk Sool Won.
