Ref of the Month – Daniel Squizzato

Daniel started refereeing at age 15, which means he’s now been doing it for more than half his life. He was head referee at the North Toronto Soccer Club for five years before moving to Salt Spring Island. Since then, he has regularly reffed local youth and adult games (LISA, VISL, LIWSA), with a few off-island assignments (BCSPL, District Cup). Though he had opportunities to advance as a ref when he was younger, his main focus has always been on helping young players and referees enjoy the game by building their understanding of its Laws. And as for the photo… it’s a cake topper version of him that a friend created years ago. Clearly, reffing has been a big part of his life!

Congratulations Daniel! Keep up the good work
